About me

Education

I was born in Bologna, Italy, on 15th July, 1963. I was raised in Porretta Terme, where I completed my undergraduate studies at the local high school (“Liceo Scientifico”). I also studied music, and attended piano and choir classes at the  “G.B. Martini” Conservatory in  Bologna.

I was admitted to the Law School of the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS), Rome, where I attended the very first law course in Italy dedicated to the training of international business lawyers, held by a prestigious faculty of law professors, Supreme Court justices, and international lawyers. I concentrated my studies particularly on international law, international affairs and arbitration law. In 1986, I was awarded a scholarship by SIOI – The Italian Society for International Organisation to participate in a two-month official study visit in the US. In 1988, I submitted my final thesis in international law and got my law degree, graduating with Honours.

Just after my graduation, I served as an infantry officer of the Italian Army at the Ministry of Defence, Rome. At present, I am an Army’s Reserve officer (Lieutenant).

Professional history

While attending my last year at law school, I was selected for a six-month traineeship programme at Chiomenti Law Firm, Rome.

In 1989 I started my legal activity at the law firm of Professor Giorgio Bernini, in Bologna. Besides practising law – mainly concentrating on domestic and international business contracts, company law, domestic and international arbitration, antitrust, international bank guarantees, pharmaceutical law, as well as on civil and commercial business litigation – I also served as research assistant of Professor Bernini at the University of Bologna, Department of Economic and Business Law. I also assisted him in drafting articles, papers, conference speeches and books on arbitration and antitrust.

After having passed my bar exam, I was admitted to the Bologna Bar Association on 4th November, 1991.

In 1998 I became a partner at Studio Bernini. I left the firm in late 2000, to co-found Studio Tampieri e Associati, Bologna. There, my work concentrated on contracts and business law counseling, as well as domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration, particularly in the domains of business contracts, company law and IP. I assisted Italian clients in complex international joint venture transactions worldwide. In 2009, I increased my efforts in insolvency and bankruptcy law, while assisting clients in complex cases of business restructuring. In 2010 I was admitted to plea before the Supreme Court of Cassation and other Higher Jurisdictions, and got my first appointments as commercial arbitrator. During these years, I also co-authored articles and papers on many legal subjects, among which enforcement of foreign judgments, consumer law, international arbitration, and art law.

In 2015, with more than 25 years of professional experience, I started my own solo law practice which bears my name.

In 2016, I was appointed Honorary Justice of the Court of Appeals of Venice.

In 2016, I also qualified as Chartered Manager of Over-indebtedness Crisis.
